History

Palazzo Fantini is the splendid result of a series of constructions superimposed through the centuries. The original structure dates back to the seventeenth century, but it was only in the middle of the eighteenth that the palace took on its present aspect.

The exquisite Art Nouveau decorations are from the nineteenth century. The stables, cellars, the two spacious courtyards and the granaries, typical of old aristocratic country estates, have been faithfully restored on the initiative of the present owner.
The park and Italian style garden are treasures of great charm. The park is home to species commonly found in most important Italian landscape gardens: apart from holm oaks, horse chestnuts, limes, white poplars and hollies there are many fine conifers such as Abies pinsapo, Pinus nigra and particularly the majestic cedars (Cedrus libani, C. deodara and C. atlantica).

Against this imposing backdrop the brightly coloured seasonal flowers stand out in summer within borders in clipped box.
The lawns, water-lily pools, beds of old roses, mixed borders and festoons of bergenias heighten and enliven the design.
A visit can be extended into the Museum of Country Life next door, which displays traditional agricultural tools and into the Torre Fantini B&B.
Recently restored respecting tradition, Torre Fantini B & B still retains its original color. Torre Fantini B&B has three lovely rooms, and it is surrounded by a private garden with a panoramic swimming-pool.

How to get here

By car
From Milan: Take the A1 Motorway (Milano – Bologna). At Bologna, take the A14 Motorway (Bologna – Ancona) and exit the motorway at Faenza. From the centre of Faenza, take the SP 16 and follow directions for Modigliana – Tredozio. When you have driven through the village of Modigliana, follow directions for Tredozio. When you reach the centre of the village, follow directions for Palazzo Fantini.

From Rome:Take the A1 Motorway (Roma – Milano) and exit at Orte. Follow the E45 main road (Terni – Ravenna) and exit at Cesena. Take the A14 Motorway (Ancona – Bologna) and exit at Faenza. From the centre of Faenza, take the SP 16 and follow directions for Modigliana – Tredozio. When you have driven through the village of Modigliana, follow directions for Tredozio. When you reach the centre of the village, follow directions for Palazzo Fantini.

By train
From Bologna Railway Station take regional train to Faenza. Then continue on the START Romagna 189 bus line and get off at the stop Piazza Tredozio. The destination is reachble on few steps.
