Oasi Zegna

Created in 1993 as an environmental development project covering a wide area of the Biella Alps (100 km2), Oasi Zegna has now become a place name for both visitors and the people who live in it.

It is crossed by the Panoramica Zegna national road from Trivero (800 m above sea level), the town where the Ermenegildo Zegna Wool Mill is still operating, to Valle Cervo and offers a spectacular balcony over the plains of the Po Valley and beautiful views of the Upper Val Sessera, a Site of considerable natural and geological interest (SIC).

Built by Ermenegildo Zegna, from 1938 onwards, along with numerous other public works and hospitality facilities, the Panoramica road runs through mountains to a large extent landscaped by the textiles entrepreneur himself, who planted half a million conifers, many hundreds of rhododendrons of various species and colors and hydrangeas of a spectacular blue thanks to the climate and soil.

In this context, sites not to be missed include the wonderful Conca dei Rododendri (Rhododendron Bowl), blossoming from mid May to mid June, created first by Pietro Porcinai and recently by Paolo Pejrone, and the Bosco del Sorriso (Forest of Smiles), a woodland path (loop) for discovering the bioenergetic benefits that plants can give our organism.
In the Oasi Zegna woods it's possible to practice Forest Bathing, an ancient health activity originating in Japan which involves walking and resting in the woods to enjot regenerating effects on mind and body.

In 2014, in recognition of its valuable contribution to the environment and its conservation, Oasi Zegna was granted the patronage of FAI Fondo Ambiente Italiano, with which it organizes the Panorama Day, every year in September.
