OCA Oasy Contemporary Art and Architectur

History

On the Pistoia Apennines, inside the splendid Oasi Dynamo, OCA-Oasy Contemporary Art is born, a place that already contains, in the name, its two souls: that of a naturalistic oasis and that of a space for contemporary art.

Oasi Dynamo is a WWF-affiliated nature reserve located in the heart of Tuscany, in the municipality of San Marcello Piteglio. Over 1000 hectares overlooking the Pistoia Apennines, where rare plants and wild animals find the ideal place to grow and live in complete freedom, safe and protected. In addition to the area's environmental recovery and conservation activities, over the years Oasi Dynamo has also opened up to hospitality, eco-tourism, and the dissemination of a sustainable environmental culture. And today, with OCA-Oasy Contemporary Art, art also arrived at high altitude, with a project entrusted to the artistic direction of Emanuele Montibeller.

At OCA, art integrates with nature, with the place that hosts it, and awaits the visitor to offer him a new world, to be discovered and created together.

In its opening season, Swedish artist David Svensson and photographer Massimo Vitali were invited to open the project, have been invited to inaugurate the project, with two works designed especially for OCA and for the idea that the place wants to bring with it. The idea that protecting nature does not mean prohibiting its enjoyment, but living it according to the culture of respect and knowledge.

How to get here

Oasi Dynamo is located in the heart of Tuscany, in Limestre, in the province of Pistoia. Oasi is easily accessible from Pistoia and is also only about an hour's drive from Florence and Pisa airports.

By car

From th North - Take the A1 towards Florence and take the Sasso Marconi exit. Proceed towards Porretta Terme/Pistoia for about 45 km (28 mi). In Ponte della Venturina, take the SP 632 towards Pracchia/Pontepetri until the SS66 junction, take the SS66 exit and continue towards San Marcello for about 7 km (4.3 mi).
From the South - From Florence take the A11 towards Pisa Nord. Take the Pistoia exit and then proceed on the freeway towards Abetone, take the SS66 and proceed for about 30 km (18.6 mi) towards Abetone / San Marcello Piteglio.
