History
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Villa di Maser is one of architect Andrea Palladio's masterpieces and hosts the most important cycle of frescoes by Paolo Veronese.
Thanks to careful work made possible by European Union funds, the original residential layout has been reconstituted, with the Villa at the centre of the agricultural estate and surrounded by vegetable gardens, orchards, and greenhouses. The centuries-old plants, the collection of ancient citrus varieties, the magnolia garden, the rose house, the stables, and the nymphaeum are part of the visit routes open at different times of the year, which can also be accessed remotely with multimedia systems, along which in cultural gatherings and guided visits guests can hear and participate in talks about art, history and innovation, nature and sustainability, past and future.
Among the Venetian Villas, only in Maser did the intellectual genius of Daniele and Marcantonio Barbaro, who commissioned the Villa, meet with the innovative vision of Andrea Palladio, the skill and freshness of Paolo Veronese's imagination and the decorative elegance of Alessandro Vittoria giving life to a place that became expression of the intense fervour of thought, art and culture of 16th-century Venice, so much so that it constitutes a milestone in the history of modern architecture.
Today Villa di Maser shares its treasure of beauty and culture, projecting itself towards new generations, through moments of exchange and research in collaboration with universities, festive seasonal presentations of products from the surrounding lands, workshops for children and for adults with children, readings, concerts, tastings, school visits.
