The Vincenzo Vela Museum (Ligornetto, CH) opens its fall exhibition season with an extensive exhibition dedicated to the painter Spartaco Vela (1854-1895), the only son of the famous Ticino sculptor and Sabina Dragoni.
Beyond readings that confine him to the role of mere “son of art,” the exhibition invites the rediscovery of a solidly trained artist, active in the cultural context of his time, of which he was a sensitive interpreter.
The pictorial and graphic production in the collection at the Vela Museum is presented to the public for the first time in its almost entirety, following the thread of an original thematic itinerary.
