A journey back in time, in the radiant setting of the Tuscan hills, among woods, olive groves and spectacular views of Florence. You'll explore the Queen's Romantic Park, created by Sir John Temple Leader and inaugurated by Queen Queen Victoria of England, the quarry from which Lorenzo the Magnificent had the stones extracted for the Columns of the Cappella dei Principi, in the Basilica of San Lorenzo, and the ancient streets of the stone masons.
Guided by an expert environmental guide you will wander through the typical vegetation of the Fiesole hills, and then be amazed by the enchanting view of Florence from the Belvedere terrace.
You'll skirt monumental caves and rock walls. From the Giardino degli Artisti you will ascend to the Cava della Principessa Elisabetta Corsini and the magnificent Belvedere Terrace, overlooking Florence, a perfect place for a break, before continuing to the Poggio della Lecceta. Another path allows you to reconnect with the Mensola Stream, to visit the Source of the Grotto and descend back to the Cava del Fossato and the Source of Queen Victoria.
In addition to your visit time, you may choose to stay further in the park. Picnic baskets containing small samples of traditional Tuscan products are also available.
The experience is suitable for adults and children ages 4 and up. Complimentary daily admission to the park. Trails are entirely outdoors. Comfortable clothing and sports shoes. Recommended sun hat in summer time.
