The Istituto autonomo Villa Adriana e Villa d'Este – VILLÆ in Tivoli is hosting the documentary and photographic exhibition VILLAE Futura: musei, parchi, giardini in evoluzione. The exhibition inaugurated on Wednesday, April 2, by the Institute's Director of Andrea Bruciati can be visited until Sunday, September 7.
The project, curated by Andrea Bruciati, recounts the restoration and restoration of a number of important rooms housed within Villa Adriana, Villa d'Este and the Sanctuary of Hercules Vincitore, illustrating the deep commitment of the VILLÆs in the enhancement of their heritage.
Beginning with an account of the interventions that since 2022 - have affected Villa Adriana and Villa d'Este - the emptying and cleaning of the Canopus, Pecile and Maritime Theater (2023) and the inauguration of the “Yourcenar Path” (2024) at Villa Adriana; the restorations of the Fountain of Ovato and the Fountain of Dragons at Villa d'Este - the exhibition illustrates the work currently underway to return to the public the Mouseia at Villa Adriana, the Grotto of Diana at Villa d'Este, and the rooms of the Via Tecta at the Sanctuary of Hercules Vincitore.
The exhibition, accompanied by historical artifacts and in situ findings during restoration campaigns, also leaves open a reflection on the future, with projects, sketches, insights and ideas that underscore the utopian vision of an always-on construction site, such as the VILLÆ of Tivoli UNESCO World Heritage Site.
