From 20 September to 8 December, Villa Carlotta (Tremezzina, CO) hosts the exhibition Family portrait. The Bisi, a dynasty of artists in romantic Lombardy between Manzoni, Hayez and Princess Belgiojoso.
The exhibition celebrates, starting from Giovanni Battista Sommariva and Villa Carlotta, one of the most established families of artists in Romantic Lombardy that in the years of the Restoration and after national unity profoundly innovated landscape painting, perspective views and portraits. Through a selection of works on loan from important museums and private collections, the exhibition delves into the production and vicissitudes of this formidable dynasty, which was able to forge friendly relations with some of the most illustrious personalities of Ambrosian society, from Alessandro Manzoni to Princess Cristina Trivulzio di Belgiojoso, from Massimo d'Azeglio to Francesco Hayez.
The exhibition is curated by Maria Cristina Brunati, Maria Angela Previtera and Sergio Rebora with the scientific coordination of Alberto Corvi.
