The Gardens of Villa Togni, a historic and scenic jewel of Gussago,
will open to the public for the first time in 2025 after a thorough restoration made possible thanks to funding from the NRP Parks and Historic Gardens Call for Proposals promoted by the Ministry of Culture.
This extraordinary place, witness to centuries of history, is ready to enchant visitors with its unique charm and cultural relevance.
Villa Togni, built in the 14th century as a medieval fortification, was the scene of momentous events such as the Congiura di Gussago in 1426, which sanctioned the passage from the rule of the Visconti of Milan to the Republic of Venice. In the 17th century, the Villa was transformed into a refined holiday residence by the Averoldi family and enlarged in the following centuries.
After a major restoration funded by the PNRR, the Villa Togni Gardens, spread over more than 4 hectares, are ready to welcome the public. The restoration has restored the original splendor to the Gardens' two main components:
[*] the 18th-century French Garden, characterized by hornbeam hedges and trompe-l'oeil.
[*] the English Garden, designed in 1908 by architect Pierre André at the instigation of Giulio Togni.
[*]
Visits to the Gardens are possible by reservation only, to be made at least one week before the desired date, and will be available on Mondays and Tuesdays, for individuals, and every Wednesday for groups.
