The Baptism of the Grandi Giardini Italiani RoseŽ

On Monday, May 13th there was the Baptism of the Grandi Giardini Italiani RoseŽ against the splendid backdrop of Ariadne's Cloister at Villa d'Este in Tivoli in the presence of Andrea Bruciati, Director of the Villa Adriana and Villa d'Este Institute, Judith Wade, Founder of Grandi Giardini Italiani and the hybridiser Vittorio Barni from Rose Barni Srl.

The Grandi Giardini Italiani RoseŽ is intended to be a souvenir, an olfactory reminder of a day spent in one of the network's gardens. It is the fruit of lengthy research by the Barni family, and will be planted in the most beautiful Italian gardens open to the public. It will stand out from the others for its elegance, red-hot petals and intense perfume.
The new hybrid will be planted in the network's most important rose gardens adhering to the itinerary, In the name of the Rose, which was created by Grandi Giardini Italiani more than 15 years ago to reveal important collections of old and modern roses from April to June, when they are in full flower. Truly an experience not to be missed! Particular thanks go to Vittorio and Beatrice Barni for having contributed to the creation of the Grandi Giardini Italiani Rose.

The Barni family emerged as traditional nurserymen in the nineteenth century when, in 1882, Vittorio Tommaso Barni began to sell vegetables, grapevines and maples used as poles in vineyards. From 1935 sanctions against Italy banned the importation of plants from Belgium and France, traditional producers. Thus Pietro and his son Vittorio started to cultivate roses which gradually became their main production, so much so that the name of the firm became ROSE BARNI.
Towards the end of the 1960s, the Barni family began to conduct their own research, developing an increasingly efficient and refined hybridisation programme.
Now the whole family continues the tradition, introducing innovative techniques and a high degree of specialisation.

Grandi Giardini Italiani RoseŽ will be included in the autumn catalog of Rose Barni Srl.
