Since 2005 the public Botanical Park “Angelo e Lina Nocivelli” has been a place of amusement, artistical and cultural performances, where the citizens of Verola, tourists and visitors could meet and have a rest in a green-clad environment.
The park collects some vegetation characterized by clumps of medium size – flower, evergreen or berries – that facilitate the nest of birds and their nourishment. Tall trees represent a typical variety of the area; that is a choice made to prevent from the discrepancy between the preexisting environment and the new samples inserted. The tree-lined avenues are pleasant-looking and have a low visual impact due to the turf and its color that gets the same appearance of the soil as the time goes by; the main aim is to create harmony between nature and human infrastructure.
By the way, the nice glass like lake is provided with two choreographic jets d'eau and crowded by carps that have a main role in preventing from algae formation. In the summer months the waterlilies blooming increases the lake beauty.
Located in the opposite side with respect to the main entrance (that is in Via Castello), the footbridge lets access by Via S. Rocco, as well. The arch path leads to the amphitheatre and to the public services, such as the café. All over the year just the café and the amphitheater are the key places as for musical, artistic and cultural events.
The amphitheater with its circular plant is modern and in step with the surrounding nature. The external furniture decorates the park and gives an increasing usability: the cast-iron and pine-wooden benches along the avenues and the white gazeboes on the grass, are place where people can have a rest and contemplate the wonderful landscape. In the park is located a greenhouse, where green education projects are carried out in collaboration with local schools.
