The camellia is a plant suitable for living in pots and reaches a maximum height of 2 metres. It prefers a shady exposure and must be protected from direct sunlight, except in winter and in the morning and evening hours. The air must not be excessively dry.
Repotting is advisable after about 2-3 years. When doing so,
COMPO recommends using
COMPO SANAŽ Potting soil for Azaleas and Rhododendrons, which is ideal for all acidophilic plants in general, due to its composition with a very low pH, and rich in well-harmonised nutrients.
The soil should be kept neither too dry nor too wet. In the latter case the risk is the proliferation of pathogens that would lead to the death of the plant.
COMPO advises that stagnant, softened water should be preferred for watering: tap water tends to be too cold and could jeopardise the survival of the camellia roots and the plant would suddenly lose its leaves. From the appearance of the buds (around the end of July), watering should be reduced and then carried out very sparingly.
