ORTICOLARIO 2017

29
SEPTEMBER
2017
ENDS1 October 2017
Evento
Starting from Friday, September 29th up to Sunday, October 1st, 2017, in the prestigious setting of Villa Erba, in Cernobbio, on the shores of Lake Como, Orticolario 2017, an event devoted to the passion for the garden and its ability to convey emotions expressing beauty and elegance.

The common thread of this ninth edition, Orticolario 2017, the most important flower show of Como Lake, is the capacity to fly light to the moon, while the flower of this edition is the Fuchsia.

Known chiefly as the home of Luchino Visconti, Villa Erba was designed at the end of the nineteenth century, with a Mannerist inspiration, which gives a dramatic impression of opulence. Each room of the two-storey building is luxuriously decorated with the works of Angelo Lorenzoli. Of great artistic value are the paintings incorporated into the decorations of the walls and ceilings, including the famous Strappos (stripped off) frescoes in the banqueting hall, attributed to Johann Christoph Storer who worked in Lombardy in the 1600s, and the decorations by Angiolo D'Andrea, a well-known painter of the Milanese Belle Époque.
