Valsanzibio was brought to its present splendor in the second half of the 17th century by the Venetian nobleman Zuane Francesco Barbarigo and his son, Antonio.

The monumental building is a project of Bernini, the 'architect of the popes'. Seventy statues are complementary to the architecture, cascades, fountains and water effects on 15 hectares (6 acres) in the intact nature of the hills.

The salvific itinerary begins with the paganish portal of Diana. Once it was reached in a boat across the Saint Eusebio fishing valley. After the entrance, we skirt Diana's Bath, the Rainbow Fountain and the Fishpond of the Winds, then we follow the Main Path with its statues, fountains, water effects and the Stairway of the Leopards.

This takes us to the square in front of the villa where eight allegorical figures form a ring around the Fountain of Ecstasy, the end of our symbolic itinerary.
Flanking this path is the Verzura Palace, the box maze and the hermitage. To the west of the Main Path an islet with tens of multicolored rabbits is perhaps the only existing warren of ancient Roman inspiration.

On high ground to the east of the Path is located the monument to Time, the fulcrum of the salvific path.

The architectural, sculptural and even vegetal components are perfectly kept thanks to the generous zeal of the Barbarigos up to 1804. In 1929 the Pizzoni Ardemani family, the present owners, repaired the grave damage resulting from military occupation in the last war and recently restored springs, cisterns, canalizations and reservoirs to give back magnificence to the sixteen fountains, four fishponds, three water effects and ten miscellaneous brooks, lakelets and springs.
